[Announcement] NEXORA Welcomes the Delegation Head and Members of the Kanto Federation of Bar Associations' Committee for the Relief of Human Rights of Foreigners on Their Fact-Finding Visit to Vietnam

On March 11, 2026, NEXORA Law Firm welcomed a delegation of lawyers, including the head of the Vietnam fact-finding delegation of the Kanto Federation of Bar Associations' Committee for the Relief of Human Rights of Foreigners.

The discussions held that day were candid and substantive, covering Vietnam's legal system, the current state of legal practice in Japan and Vietnam, and differences in legal interpretation and enforcement between the two countries.

The meeting also deepened mutual understanding and marked a first step toward building an ongoing cooperative relationship through regular information-sharing going forward.

During the discussion, the question was raised: “In what respects do Japanese companies find Vietnam different from Japan when they enter the market and conduct business there?”

First, in terms of “market understanding,” it is not uncommon for companies to enter the Vietnamese market without having first developed a sufficient understanding of it. Second, in terms of “management style,” Vietnam tends to place greater emphasis on flexibility and short-term decision-making. Differences are also apparent in “expectations regarding personnel” — labor mobility in Vietnam is high, and personnel turnover occurs relatively frequently as organizations grow and change. Finally, in terms of “understanding of the law and compliance awareness,” while Japanese companies tend to have a very strong commitment to legal compliance, simply applying that same sensibility directly to Vietnam can lead to misunderstandings about the local legal system and how it operates in practice.
